Convicted terrorist from Bradford sent back to prison for fraud and terror offences

A convicted terrorist from Bradford has been returned to prison. after he was found guilty of fresh terror offences and fraud.
40 year old Aabid Khan was convicted of possessing terrorist material and three counts of possessing an article for use in fraud at Leeds Crown Court.
He was remanded into custody after admitting to breaching a Terrorist Notification Order in February 2022, after failing to declare a mobile phone and tell police his address.
He was sentenced to a further six and a half years behind bars.
Khan was previously jailed for 12 years in 2008 for possessing articles for a purpose connected with terrorism.
Detective Chief Superintendent James Dunkerley, Head of Counter Terrorism Policing North East, said:
“We take the monitoring of terrorism offenders released from prison extremely seriously and the safety of our communities remains our priority at all times.
“Specialist Counter Terrorism officers work closely with probation services and other agencies to ensure that terrorism offenders are adhering to their licence conditions and any additional notification requirements that may have been imposed under terrorism legislation.
“This structured approach continues to be the most effective way of actively managing terrorism offenders on their release. Any breaches, or further offending, will always be prosecuted and could lead to imprisonment as seen in this case.”
