Bradford man who crashed into multiple cars while high on nitrous oxide jailed
He was caught on camera smashing into other drivers on Halifax Road on May 9 last year, while his passenger begged him to slow down.
A Bradford driver who smashed into multiple other vehicles after he got behind the wheel while high on nitrous oxide has been jailed for three years 10 months.
35 year old Cheten Bhardwaj, of New Cross Street, was caught on camera smashing into other drivers on Halifax Road on May 9 last year, while his passenger begged him to slow down.
He left one woman with serious injuries.
Chief Inspector James Farrar of West Yorkshire Police said:
“The actions of Bhardwaj were simply reckless and selfish; this case highlights the very real and often catastrophic consequences of dangerous driving and driving whilst taking nitrous oxide.
“Bhardwaj made a choice to get behind the wheel, whilst under the influence and put other road users at risk. I am thankful nobody was killed.
“Nitrous oxide has been a banned drug since November 2023 and the footage in this case highlights the dangers of using it at the wheel. It has similar effects to other drugs and can severely impair your ability to drive.
“Officers from the Roads Policing Unit are committed investigating serious road traffic offences and bringing those offenders to justice.
“West Yorkshire Police is part of the Vision Zero partnership which is committed to reducing the number of serious injury and fatal collisions in our area.”
