A man has been convicted of the murder of his step-mum in Bradford.

Abdul Sami, 23, of Mannheim Road, was found guilty of the killing of Rizwana Kousar, aged 41, following a trial at Bradford Crown Court.

On August 15 2023, Rizwana was discovered unconscious in the bath at her Kensington Road home.

She was taken to hospital, where she sadly died two days later.

The trial revealed that Sami had strangled his step-mother with her own headscarf.

A post-mortem examination determined she died due to a brain injury caused by a lack of oxygen.

“We hope only to seek justice for Rizwana and ask for our privacy to be respected.”

Senior Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Matt Holdsworth, of West Yorkshire Police, said:
