Four Bradford drivers sentenced for using dead man's name to avoid fines and points

Four people from Bradford have been sentenced after being caught using the details of a dead man, in an attempt to avoid being punished for motoring offences.

Two men and two women were sentenced at Bradford Court Court last week after using the details of a man who died in 2001 to try to evade offences like speeding or running red lights.

The four submitted the deceased man's details on five seperate occasions between 2020 and 2024.

Those convicted are:

• Sarah Hanif, aged 33, of Great Russell Street, Bradford. She received a 12 month suspended setence for committing an act/series of acts with intent to pervert the course of public justice.

• Ajmal Khan, aged 32, of Middleton Crescent, Leeds. He was sentenced on 7 August to eight months in prison (suspended for two years) for committing an act/series of acts with intent to pervert the course of public justice .

• Shahad Aljammoor, aged 37 of Carr Bottom Avenue, Bradford . She was sentenced on 5 August to 15 months in prison (suspended for two years) two counts of committing an act/series of acts with intent to pervert the course of public justice.

• Naheed Razaq, aged 49, of Avenel Terrace, Bradford . He was sentenced on 7 August to six months in prison (suspended for two years) for committing an act/series of acts with intent to pervert the course of public justice.

Rachel Wainwright of West Yorkshire Police said: “We welcome the sentencing of all four of these people who attempted to blame a deceased man to try and escape justice for offences committed in their vehicles.

“Instead, all have been brought to justice for their deceit and their waste of valuable time and resource in what has been really shameful offending.”

She added: “Our team is highly experienced at investigating those who attempt to evade prosecution for traffic offences."
