Headliners announced for new music festival at Bradford's Darley Street Market
The Hoosiers, Lucy Spraggan and Pulled Apart By Horses will headline “Live at the Courtyard” over three days in August
A NEW city centre music festival will be headlined by a million selling indie band, a local hard rock group and a singer/songwriter who found fame through X Factor.
Darley Street Market will host “Live at the Courtyard” over three days in August, and the three headliners have been announced.
The Hoosiers will headline the final day (Sunday August 16).
The indie-pop band are known for songs like “Worried About Ray” and “Goodbye Mr A”, and their debut album ‘The Trick To Life’ has sold over 700,000 copies in the UK alone.
The band have previously played festivals including Glastonbury and the Isle of White Festival.
Leeds alternative rockers Pulled Apart by Horses will headline the Friday (August 14), bringing their chaotic, high energy shows to the market courtyard.
Singer songwriter Lucy Spraggan will take to the stage on Saturday evening. In 2012 the singer entered The X Factor and went onto be the first contestant in history to score a Top 40 single and album before the live shows aired.
She has reached over 210million streams on Spotify alone and has sold over 150,000 albums. Her latest album ‘Other Sides of the Moon’ opened at number six in the album chart.
Taking place on Friday 14, Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 August, each outdoor concert will feature an outdoor bar and food offer.
Each act will perform for an hour, and there will be supporting acts on each day. These will be announced soon.
Doors on Friday 14 August and Saturday 15 August open at 7pm and on Sunday 16 August doors will be open at 1.30pm. Music will start around 45-minutes after doors open. Tickets are £18 (Friday), £20 (Saturday) and £24 (Sunday), plus booking fees.
Darley Street Market, run by Bradford Council, opened last Summer – replacing the city centre’s Oastler and Kirkgate Markets, both of which are due to be demolished in the coming months.
As well as three floors of stalls, the venue also features a large courtyard that has hosted outdoor markets, football fan zones and wrestling events.
On the new festival, a Bradford Markets spokesperson said: “We’re looking forward to welcoming these three amazing acts to the Courtyard at Darley Street Market this summer.
“This will be our first outdoor festival. There will be outdoor bars as well as fabulous food. Look out for more details and also support act announcements shortly.”
Tickets for Live At The Courtyard go on sale from Monday (May 18) from the Bradford Theatres website.
