BRADFORD Council has issued six £1,000 fines for fly tipping since the maximum penalty was increased last September.
But just three of those fines have been paid so far.
In September 2025 the Council increased the maximum fine that could be given to fly tippers from £400 to £1,000.
At a meeting of Bradford Council’s Shipley Area Committee on Wednesday, members will receive an update on work being done to tackle issues including fly tipping, littering and dog fouling in the District.
Referring to the increased fly tipping fines, the report says: “Environmental Enforcement uses different levels of Fixed Penalty Notice depending on the seriousness of the fly-tipping offence.
“The current penalties are £1,000 for the most serious offences, £400 for medium-level offences, reduced to £300 for early payment, and £150 for minor offences, such as fly-tipping a single item.
“To date, six £1,000 fixed penalty notices have been issued, with three paid. From September, the maximum FPN for fly-tipping in England will increase from £1,000 to £5,000.
“This will give councils more flexibility to set fines that reflect how serious the offence is. Prosecution will still be considered for the most serious cases or where offenders repeatedly fly-tip.”
