Community banking hub opens in Yeadon to help locals access accounts
The Yeadon facility is one of 12 banking hubs now open in West Yorkshire.
A shared banking space will boost access to cash facilities after a permanent home was found for the service.
A banking hub on High Street in Yeadon will offer a Post Office counter service where customers can make payments, deposits and withdrawals.
Operated by Cash Access UK, it provides services for members of all mainstream banks and building societies.
The hub has been officially opened after moving from its temporary home at Yeadon Town Hall.
Claire Adrych, Cash Access UK’s regional manager, said: “We know more and more people are choosing to use digital for online and for purchases.
“But lots of adults across the UK rely heavily on cash for their day-to-day lives.
“It’s a really great location. Customers are able to access it, to come and use it on a daily basis, and it’s proving really popular.”
Face-to-face appointments for private banking matters will also be on offer at the hub.
Community bankers from Santander, HSBC, NatWest, Barclays, Lloyds and Halifax will be at the hub on a rotation system between Monday-Friday.
The hub moved to High Street after Leeds City Council gave planning permission for the refurbishment of a former Halifax branch.
Leeds North West Labour MP Katie White cut the ribbon at an official opening on May 29.
Cash Access UK’s chief executive Gareth Oakley said: “I’m happy to announce the opening of our Yeadon hub, ensuring crucial access to cash and face-to-face banking services for residents and businesses across the community.”
