A man's been jailed for attempting to murder a fellow care home resident in Bradford
The 61 year old victim was left with a broken skull and ribs
A man has been sentenced to 25 years for the attempted murder of another man in Bradford.
The 61-year-old victim was left with multiple catastrophic injuries following the attack by Graham Dowling, 36, in the early hours of 11 December 2024.
The incident occurred at the Burger Court care facility on Barkerend Road where both men were residents.
Dowling went into the victim’s room and repeatedly assaulted him, causing significant skull fractures and broken ribs.
Detectives from Bradford CID launched an investigation and Dowling was arrested and charged with attempted murder.
He was convicted following a trial at Bradford Crown Court in May this year, and has today (Friday 22 August) been sentenced to 20 years in prison with five years extended licence
Detective Constable Laura Milner, who led the investigation, said:
“This was a tragic case which has left the victim with life-changing injuries. His life will never be the same.
“My sincere thoughts are with him and his close family, and I hope they can start to gain some form of closure knowing that Dowling has now been brought to justice for his crime.”
