Man due in court charged with arson and violent disorder following Harehills rioting

It comes after unrest in the north Leeds suburb last July

A man is due in court today to face charges connected to the rioting in Harehills, Leeds, last summer.

41 year old Catalin Tiuga, of Bayswater Crescent, is accused of arson and violent disorder allegedly committed during the evening of July 18 2024.

He is due before Leeds Magistrates Court.

It comes after violent confrontations between police and crowds in the north Leeds suburb, during which fires were set, a bus torched and a police car overturned.

More than 40 arrests have been made over what happened, with 15 charged and 5 sentenced.
