Alfie Boe and Wicked stars to headline Halifax gig at The Piece Hall
Tenor will be joined by Gravity stars Louise Dearman, Kerry Ellis and Rachel Tucker
One of Britain's best-loved tenors is set to headline a night of musical theatre in Halifax this summer.
Alfie Boe will perform at Live at The Piece Hall on Tuesday 27th July 2027, accompanied by West End and Broadway stars Louise Dearman, Kerry Ellis and Rachel Tucker as his special guests.
The trio, known for their roles in Wicked, will bring their show Gravity to the historic venue.
Boe is a graduate of the Royal College of Music who went on to train at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden.
He achieved global recognition performing leading roles with major opera companies before becoming known as the definitive Jean Valjean in Les Misérables, a role he has played in the West End, on Broadway and on the production's 40th anniversary world tour, including a performance at Radio City Music Hall in New York.
He has also released more than a dozen studio albums and performed at some of the world's most prestigious venues, including Buckingham Palace for the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and the Royal Albert Hall.
Ellis was the first British actress to play Elphaba in Wicked, Dearman is the only performer to have played both Elphaba and Glinda in the show, and Tucker has played Elphaba on both Broadway and in the West End.
Their Gravity show brings together stage favourites including We Will Rock You, Cats, Oliver!, My Fair Lady, Miss Saigon, Les Misérables, Guys and Dolls, Evita, Joseph, The Great Gatsby, Sunset Boulevard and Chicago.
The Halifax show is one of three dates announced across Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, with Boe and Gravity also performing at Lincoln Castle on Sunday 27th June 2027 and Scarborough Open Air Theatre on Sunday 25th July 2027.
Nicky Chance-Thompson MBE DL FRSA, CEO of The Piece Hall Charitable Trust, said: "The Piece Hall is a place for everyone and one of my favourite things about our summer season is the diversity of the musical programme.
"We've had so many requests for the amazing Alfie Boe and I'm delighted we've managed to secure him for 2027.
"I can just imagine the goosebumps of hearing his magnificent voice filling every corner of this breathtaking historic venue.
"And how magical that he's accompanied by some of the brightest musical theatre stars around, performing the biggest show tunes going, something completely new for us – I can already hear the shouts of 'encore'!"
Tickets go on general sale on Friday.
