POLICE seized over 370 bottles of wine and 234 cases of beer during raids on three town centre shops.

Keighley’s Neighbourhood Policing Team visited three shops on Cavendish Street in Keighley on May 7 as park of a crackdown on the sale of illegal alcohol in the town.

Police have since confirmed that all three shops will undergo a licensing review in the near future.

Police say the operation was carried out along with “a partner government agency” and saw “significant quantities of illicit alcohol seized.”

This comprised of:

234 cases of beer

374 bottles of wine

44 litres of spirits

A police spokesperson said: “The total duty value of these seized goods is estimated to be approximately £6,700.

“This operation forms part of our continued commitment to disrupting illegal trade, and protecting local communities.”

Earlier this year three business on Cavendish Street were stripped of their alcohol licenses after Police and Trading Standards raids uncovered a huge amount of illicit tobacco on sale.
