Former England opener Adam Lyth has agreed a new deal with Yorkshire, taking his Headingley stay past 20 years.

Lyth, 37, made his professional debut for the county in 2006 and has penned an extension that takes him to the end of 2026.

The attacking batter played seven Tests for England during a brief international career in 2015 but has continued to be a prolific performer at domestic level and hit 1,215 first-class runs in last season's Division Two promotion campaign.

"I'm thrilled to be signing my new contract with my home club. I love representing Yorkshire and take immense pride every time I step on the field with the guys," he said.

"We have a very talented squad, and I am convinced that we will thrive this year against the best opposition."

Head coach Anthony McGrath, who will lead Yorkshire for the first time this summer, added: "Adam is a model professional and has kept a level of performance over the years which I know all our players aspire to achieve.

"His consistency at the top of the order in all formats is clear to see and

I know he has a lot more to offer us over the next few years."
