4 children and a man seriously hurt after reports of explosion in vehicle in Mirfield

A man and four children have been seriously injured after reports of an explosion in a vehicle in Mirfield.

Police say they were called at 2.17pm near to the Hare and Hounds Inn on Liley Lane.

An 8 year-old-girl is in a life threatening condition in hospital. 3 other children have suffered injuries that are believed to be life-changing.

A Police statement said:

"At 2.17pm yesterday (28 June ), police were called to a report of an explosion in a vehicle at the Hare and Hounds Inn, Liley Lane, Mirfield. Emergency services attended and found that five people in the vehicle – four children and a man – had suffered serious burns.

"All of them were taken to hospital for treatment. A man aged 43 and a girl aged 8 suffered life-threatening injuries.

"The three other children have injuries which are believed to be life-changing.

"Enquiries are ongoing into the incident, but there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances."
