A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following reported stabbings at a flat in Heckmondwike last night (18 April).

Police attended an address in Kilpin Court at 10:21pm, after a report that a man had allegedly attacked two people with a knife.

A man and a woman were both taken to hospital to be treated for injuries not thought to be life threatening. They were treated at the scene for facial and neck injuries.

A 19-year-old man was arrested at the address on suspicion of attempted murder and has been taken into custody.

T/Detective Inspector Sarah Bradley of Kirklees Adult Safeguarding Unit said: “Our officers are investigating this incident in order to establish exactly what has taken place and, while we carry out our enquiries, there will be a scene at the address.

“It’s understandable that this incident will have caused concern in the community and I would like to reassure people that it appears to be a domestic incident and there is no wider threat to the public.

"One man is now in custody and we are not seeking any further people in connection with what has taken place.”
