Ensure eligibility to vote in upcoming elections
Residents in South Norfolk and Broadland District are being urged to confirm their electoral registration details to secure their voting rights.
Its ahead of upcoming elections scheduled for May 2027, to ensure residents have enough time to check.
The annual canvass serves as a reminder for residents to ensure that their information on the electoral register is current and correct.
Electoral Registration Officer Trevor Holden emphasised the importance of staying updated to avoid losing the opportunity to vote, saying:
"Keep an eye out for important updates from your local council. The annual canvass is our way of making sure that the information on the electoral register for every address is accurate and up to date.
To make sure you don’t lose your say at upcoming elections, simply follow the instructions sent to you."
Research indicates that recent movers are less likely to be registered compared to long-term residents.
Jackie Killeen, Director of Electoral Administration and Regulation, highlighted this, stating:
"It’s really important that everyone who is eligible to vote is able to do so. We urge people to check for updates from their local council on this year’s canvass. The council may contact residents by post or email."
Those who haven’t registered yet can do so by following instructions from their local council or accessing the online registration page.
