As Sir David Attenborough celebrates his 100th birthday today (8th May), a major milestone is also being marked in Norfolk.

Norfolk Wildlife Trust is also celebrating its centenary year, celebrating 100 years of protecting the countys landscapes and wildlife.

Natalie Bailey, the Director of Engagement at Norfolk Wildlife Trust, wants the public to celebrate this shared legacy by doing whatever they can to give back to the environment:

"The key messages we try to get across is that every action, no matter how small, can make a difference.

"Even the smallest thing, if we all did that one thing, it could make a real difference."

Natalie says they are honoured to share the occasion: "His impact on the natural world is just phenomenal, everyone is soothed by his amazing voice and feels inspired and motivated when they watch his documentaries,

And I think he's got a special place in so many people's hearts, from young people all the way through."

When writing a birthday card for Sir David Attenborough, Natalie told us how hard it is to put into how much he means to the organisation:

"It' s quite a lot of pressure, what do you write in a birthday card to someone who's had such a phenomenal impact on so many people and wildlife, we're all sitting there chewing the end of our pens trying to write something that sums that up.

I think we're all extremely grateful to Sir David for all he's done."

Natalie said the main message to take from these two incredible celebrations is that we need to work hard, collectively, for the future of our greenspaces: "Whilst it's wonderful to celebrate all that's been achieved, we really want to look ahead now and look at how we are working with others, working with young people, just to create a really amazing and wild Norfolk.

"We're really, really excited about the next 100 years and the impact that we can all have if we all work together."
