it's after a group in Parliament has called for detail over how this will improve efficiency

An MP here tells us he wants local authorities be given more of a say over their rail network.

It's as the Transport Committee in Parliament wants more information on how public ownership of the service will benefit passengers.

It's after a "comprehensive list, with target dates" for the first year of publicly owned Great British Railways.

It's also keen to know how GBR will operate as an "arm's-length body" - free from political interference.

"The ability to influence what the national network is doing, make business case and bid for money"

Steff Aquarone represents North Norfolk in Parliament and is part of that group.

"The simplified ticketing and the centralising of time-tabling, that could all have the potential to improve the overall system.

"But without the important detail of what this will look like and how it'll work, I'm still concerned that it will be too centralised.

"Real localism when it comes to rail is about the ability to influence what the national network is doing, but also for mayors or Councils to be able to make their business cases, bid money and get the things that they need.

The Government says this will improve reliability and efficiency for passengers.
