Two men have been jailed after a drive-by shooting in West Bromwich left a man with serious injuries.
Two shots were fired from one car to another at the junction of High Street and Trinity Way on 1 May 2025.
The first shot missed but the second shattered the rear windscreen.
The victim - a man in his 20s - sped away from the scene and arrived at the Midland Met Hospital at short time later.
He was left with gunshot wounds to his shoulder and the back of his head but survived the attack.
CCTV showed Adyan Hussain, 22, had been driving the black Vauxhall Mokka that was involved and had fired the shots.
Around 30 minutes prior, he had been dropped off on Leopard Street in a different car by Naveed Hussain before getting in the Mokka. He changed the number plates before the attack, which happened at around 11:30am.
After the attack, Adyan Hussein abandoned the car in Oldbury. Both men collected it the following day and changed the number plates again.
Det Insp Francis Nock, from our Major Crime Unit Reactive Team, said: “This was a violent attack on a busy High Street, which left a man seriously injured and could easily have killed him.
“We have not been able to establish a motive for this attack, and it’s worrying that those involved felt they could use such violence on the streets of the West Midlands.
“Thankfully, the determination of investigators to bring them to justice has paid off.
“Guns have no place on the streets of the West Midlands, and our detectives and firearms officers work closely with local policing officers to build a picture of those involved in gun crime so that we can take them off the streets and put them behind bars.”
Adyan Hussain, of Salisbury Road, West Bromwich, admitted possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, and was sentenced to 11 years and three months in jail at a hearing in November.
Naveed Hussain, also 22, of Ida Road, West Bromwich, admitted assisting an offender and last Friday (9 Jan), was sentenced to four years in prison.
