Two people have been charged after a woman was murdered and her body was found in the canal in West Bromwich.

Two people have been charged after a woman was murdered and her body found in the canal in West Bromwich.

Her body was discovered in Walsall Canal off Ryder's Green Road on Tuesday (7 Oct), sparking a murder investigation.

Four people were initially arrested, with two since being charged.

John Anslow, 64, of West Bromwich, is accused of murder and preventing a lawful and decent burial.

Hayley-Marie Ferguson, 41, of West Bromwich, is also accused of preventing a lawful and decent burial, as well as assisting an offender.

The pair are due at Worcester Magistrates Court this morning.

The two other people who were arrested - a man in his 20s and a man in his 60s - have been released with no further action.

West Midlands Police said: "We believe we have now identified the woman, and specialist officers are supporting her family at this incredibly difficult time.

"Our investigation is continuing, and anyone with information should contact us on 101 quoting log 1587 of 7 October.
