Several weapons have been seized during an investigation at a former brothel in Birmingham.

The operation occurred on Wednesday, 10th June, led by the Serious Organised Crime and Exploitation Team (SOCEX) in collaboration with various partners.

Officers visited the Station Street building, which previously operated as a brothel and found the former rooms converted into accommodation.

The snooker club underneath had also been transformed into a makeshift bedroom.

A search of the premises led to the discovery of several realistic-looking air weapons that were made safe and seized.

As a result of concerns about the property’s condition, West Midlands Fire Service issued an indefinite prohibition order affecting the restaurant, snooker hall, and lower levels.

This prohibition ensures the building remains closed until it meets essential safety standards.

During the operation, a man and woman in their 40s were arrested on suspicion of immigration offences.

PC George Anstey from SOCEX emphasised the importance of their proactive operations across Birmingham, aiming to safeguard vulnerable individuals and ensure public safety.

PC Anstey highlighted the collaborative efforts with immigration, local authorities, the fire service, and police teams.

He stated, "We regularly carry out proactive operations where we visit premises across Birmingham – ultimately to ensure the safety of the public, and to safeguard any vulnerable people who are there."

This collaboration allowed potentially harmful weapons to be removed from the streets and led to the closure of the unsafe building.

Anstey assured continued efforts to protect vulnerable populations and maintain public safety.

Concerns about suspicious activities or premises should be reported to West Midlands Police.
