William Archer, an 11-year-old fundraiser, was surprised to see a Walsall Football Club player walk into his classroom at The Streetly Academy, Sutton Coldfield, on Wednesday afternoon.
The student has been raising money for Midlands Air Ambulance Charity (MAAC) over the past year, inspired by the lifesaving care they provided to his grandad.
To thank him for his work, the Walsall FC team paid Will a surprise visit at his school.
When Will saw Walsall FC defender, Mason Hancock, come into his classroom, he was stunned.
“I was so happy,” he said, when talking about the surprise visit.
“My grandad will be happy I did the fundraising because he supports Walsall FC.”
The football club were delighted to gift Will their full kit and invite him to walk out as a mascot at Saturday’s (19th September) home game.
Will’s dad, Tom Archer, said: “We’re so proud.
“Our family and his grandad are lifetime fans of Walsall FC, so we’re absolutely excited.
“His grandad is over the moon about it.”
Through fundraising activities, including a marathon relay and a fete, Will has helped raise over £1000 for the MAAC.
