A shop worker who raped a woman in the toilets of the Wednesbury shop where he worked has been jailed for 10 years.

Wahidullah Hotak, 26, of Douglas Road, Birmingham, was previously found guilty of rape following a trial and has now been sentenced.

Birmingham Crown Court heard how on 28 February 2025, a woman in her 20s after she asked to use the toilet at the shop on Wednesbury High Street.

The woman told a friend soon after who supported her in reporting the attack to the police later that same day.

Hotak was arrested the same day.

His DNA matched to the DNA on samples and clothing worn by the victim.

Despite denying the charge of rape, a jury found him guilty.

PC Precious Harris, from West Midlands Police, said: "It is the victim's bravery and courage in reporting this matter to the police, and giving her evidence at court, that has ultimately led to her receiving the justice and closure that she so truly deserves.
