Two men arrested and firearm seized in Walsall

Two men have been arrested and a firearm has been seized in Walsall.

Officers were called out to reports of suspicious activity in Caldmore Green earlier this morning (Thu).

Firearms officers attended at around 4.40am and following a thorough search of the area two men were arrested on suspicion of possessing an imitation firearm.

The firearm recovered was confirmed as a blank fire.

Some nearby roads, including Wednesfield Road and Glebe Street, were closed off as a forensic examination was carried out. Those road closures were lifted just after 8.10am.

The two men, aged 39 and 23, remain in custody for questioning.
