West Midlands Police have arrested three men, recovered cash and shut down a cannabis farm after officers initially stopped a car as it travelled through Birmingham city centre.

The vehicle was stopped by one the force's Guardian teams on Holloway Circus on Friday evening and on searching it around £13,000 in cash was seized.

The driver, aged 24, was arrested on suspicion of money laundering. Phones were also recovered from the car and data from these led officers to an address in Wednesbury.

A short time later officers raided that property and discovered two rooms containing a growing set-up with around 150 cannabis plants.

These, and the growing equipment, have been recovered and will be destroyed.

Two men, aged 28 and 30, who were inside the property and were arrested on suspicion of cultivating cannabis.

Investigations are ongoing and all three men have been released on police bail with conditions while those enquiries continue.
