Detectives investigating a stabbing at Birmingham New Street railway station yesterday are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Officers were called to Birmingham New Street railway station at around 8pm yesterday (19 May) following reports of violent disorder in the station involving several teenagers. Paramedics also attended and a teenage boy was treated at the scene for an injury consistent with being stabbed. He was taken to hospital with injuries not believed to be life-changing or life-threatening. No arrests have been made in connection at this time.

Detective Inspector Connor Towes said: “There is absolutely no place for violence on the railway network, and detectives are working at pace to investigate this incident. Passengers will see an increased police presence at the station while officers carry out their enquiries.

“We know the station was busy at the time of the incident and many people may have seen what happened or the events leading up to it, so we are urging anyone with information to get in touch and assist us with our enquiries.”
