Boy, 14, remains in police custody following Leo Ross murder in Birmingham

West Midlands Police say the boy arrested on suspicion of murder after Leo Ross, 12, was killed in Birmingham is remaining in police custody today (24 Jan).

Detectives have been granted extra time to question the 14-year-old.

It's after Leo was stabbed as he walked home from school on Tuesday afternoon (21 Jan) at around 3:15pm. He was found with injuries to his stomach near Scribers Lane in Hall Green. He was taken to hospital but sadly died at around 7:30pm.

A 14-year-old boy was arrested from a Birmingham address later that evening.

He's also being questioned on three separate assaulted on elderly women in the area, which happened on Sunday and Monday, before Leo's murder.

West Midlands Police said they are keen to speak to anyone who saw what happened.

They said in a statement on their website: "We are continuing to appeal for information from anyone who might have seen what happened, especially if you have photos, CCTV or dashcam footage from the area at around the time Leo was stabbed.
