West Midlands Police are investigating the death of an 18-year-old man and have launched a murder investigation after a stabbing in Smethwick.

The incident occurred outside a mosque on Oldbury Road just before 9pm last night.

The teenager's injuries proved fatal, and police have expressed their condolences to his loved ones.

Two other victims, aged 19 and 22, were taken to the hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

Police have confirmed that the incident is not being treated as religiously or racially motivated at this time, but efforts are underway to uncover more details about the circumstances and those involved.

Police say they are reviewing CCTV and carrying out enquiries and have pledged an increased presence in the area.
