A woman has been charged following an incident in Sedgley that saw several police officers being assaulted.

Officers from West Midlands Police were called to an incident taking place outside a pub on the Bull Ring area of Sedgley on Wednesday (April 23rd).

When officers arrived at the scene, they found that several people were involved in an altercation taking place outside the pub.

In the incident, at least three officers were assaulted as they attempted to intervene and separate the groups.

Following this, a woman was arrested in connection with the assault - with police now charging her with grievous bodily harm against a police officer.

Samantha Dalton, aged 37, from Wolverhampton, appeared before Wolverhampton Magistrates' Court on Friday (April 25th) for a first hearing.

On top of grievous bodily harm, Dalton was charged with assault by beating three other officers, a racially aggravated public order offence and a "further public order offence", according to the force.

A second person, 34-year-old Ashley Jonson, was also charged with obstructing an officer and criminal damage during the incident; he will appear before Dudley Magistrates Court next month.
