Police arrest four people after robbery in Birmingham
Two people had their phones stolen last night in the city centre
Officers in Birmingham have arrested four people and seized two knives following a quick response to a robbery in the city centre.
At 8pm last night (13 October) two people were on the High Street when they were threatened by a group who stole their phones.
The pair managed to escape, and officers were immediately alerted to what had happened.
Working with city centre partners, police were able to track a group running from the scene on CCTV.
City centre officers and armed colleagues worked quickly to track down the offenders.
Two men aged 18, and two boys aged 16, were detained minutes later.
Officers also recovered two large knives, and well as both stolen phones.
The four were arrested on suspicion of robbery and remain in police custody.
Police currently have a dispersal order in place in the city centre, with officers patrolling around the clock to keep the community safe, and we would urge anyone with concerns to speak to us.
