Pedestrian dies following crash in Smethwick

A woman has died after being hit by a car in Smethwick.
Emergency crews were called to Thimblemill Road just after 9:26pm last night (28 August) to reports of a crash involving a pedestrian and a car.
Two ambulances, a paramedic officer, a trauma doctor and a critical care paramedic were sent to the scene.
West Midlands Ambulance Service says the woman was found in a critical condition and received advanced trauma care but despite the efforts of medics she was confirmed dead at the scene.
The driver of the car suffered injuries which are not believed to be life-threatening and was taken to Midland Metropolitan University Hospital for further checks.
