A huge mural in memory of former Wolves player Diogo Jota is set to be completed as fans prepare for the club's opening game of the season.

The artwork, which has been painted on a wall on Waterloo Road near to Molineux Stadium, is due to be finished today (15 August).

The man behind it, graffiti artist Joe Miles, has spent hours this week painting his design, which depicts Jota in his Wolves kit.

He tragically died in a car crash alongside his brother, Andre Silva, in Spain last month.

Artist Joe Miles said he wanted to create a long-lasting memorial to show what Jota meant to the fans.

"As a Wolves fan myself, this is a very special one. A massive thank you to everyone who donated to the fundraiser to do this."

Wolves announced earlier this week that a special tribute will be held for Jota, and his younger brother, ahead of their Premier League opener against Manchester City on Saturday.

The club said a tifo, a striking visual display, will be revealed by fans in front of the South Bank. There will also be a minute’s applause ahead of kick-off.

Following Jota's death, the Billy Wright Statue outside the stadium became a focal point for fans to pay their respects.

A number of the floral tributes left have been collected and are being turned into ink for a future artistic tribute.
