Three men jailed for 20 years after armed police chase car in Birmingham
They've been convicted of firearms offences.
Three men have been jailed for a combined total of 20 years after firearms and ammunition were found following a police chase in Birmingham.
Jermaine Vassell, Kiyran Delaney, and Rayhan Hurd were sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court.
West Midlands Police received a tip-off from a member of the public on Christmas Eve in 2023, leading armed police to pursue a car in Northfield. It initially failed to stop for police, and the occupants tried to flee once officers were able to bring it to a halt.
Vassel and Delaney were chased and caught by firearms officers. The driver fled but was later identified as Hurd.
A search of the car recovered a converted revolver and ammunition.
DC Sean Grove, from our Major Crime Team, said: “This case shows how seriously we take reports of firearms, and highlights the work we’re doing to keep the public safe from them.
“From our initial intelligence, brave actions by firearms officers and our extensive investigation – we have taken a dangerous weapon and ammunition off the streets and brought those responsible to justice.
“If you have any information about people with weapons, you can report it to us anonymously and we will take action.”
All three men admitted to possessing a firearm and ammunition.
Delaney, 21, of Cumberland Road in Walsall, was sentenced to six years.
Vassell, 20, of Chaddesley Road in Birmingham, was sentenced to eight years.
Hurd, 26, of Wollescote Forge Mews in Dudley, was sentenced to six years.
