Man convicted after raping and abusing woman for months in Walsall
He's set to be sentenced in May
A man has been convicted after raping and abusing a woman for months, installing hidden cameras in her home.
40-year-old Mark Williams, of Hockley Close, Birmingham, admitted charges of rape and engaging in controlling and coercive behaviour.
The court heard how a woman came forward in September 2024, telling police she was raped by Williams at an address in Walsall.
She also said Williams had limited her access to her money, cut her off from her friends and family, and installed hidden cameras in her home.
Williams was arrested three days after the initial report.
Detective Constable Daniel Folley, Public Protection Unit, said: “The woman in this case has been pivotal to securing a conviction for Williams. She has shown incredible bravery and resilience during the process.
“Coercive and controlling behaviour can develop over time during a relationship and can make it difficult for people to come forward. We encourage people who see victims of coercive behaviour and notice the signs to report it to us.”
