Telford man denies 25 counts of romance fraud

He's accused of defrauding seven women out of nearly £600,000

A man from Telford has pleaded not guilty to 25 counts of romance fraud at Chester Crown Court.

52-year-old Marc Cole-Jones, of Church Grove, Donnington, Telford, appeared in court today (27th February).

The charges he face relate to romance fraud allegations involving seven women from Cheshire, Lancashire, Shropshire, Warwickshire, Manchester and the West Midlands.

The offences are reported to have happened over a 15 year period, from 2009-2025.

The court heard he's accused of defrauding the women out of an estimated £595,791 by falsely representing himself.

He's been released on conditional bail and will face a four-week trial on 28th June 2027.
