Police are appealing for witnesses after a fatal collision in Birmingham.

Officers were called to Highters Heath Lane shortly after 7.30pm yesterday after a collision involving a car and a pedestrian.

A man in his 70s sadly died following the collision. His family have been informed and are being supported by officers, and the thoughts are with them at this tragic time.

The driver of the car involved in the collision fled the scene, and officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit are now working to find them.

They are keen to hear from anyone who saw the crash, especially anyone with doorbell or dashcam footage.

Inspector Sam Lewis said: "Our thoughts are with the family of the man who died.

"We want to hear from anyone who saw what happened, or thinks they know where the driver of the car involved might be.

"To the driver of the car we would say come forward, do the right thing and make yourself known."
