A man has died after being hit by a car in Wolverhampton.
The pedestrian was left seriously injured on the A449 Stafford Road, following the collision just after 6am yesterday (10 January).
Police found the 62-year-old man near the junction with Bee Lane and Wobaston Road. He sadly died at the scene.
West Midlands Police said he was struck by a blue VW car, with the driver remaining at the scene.
A 30-year-old man, arrested on suspicion of being unfit to drive due to drink or drugs, has been released under investigation.
Det Sgt Richard Evans from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: "Our focus at this awful time, is to establish exactly what has happened, and to offer support.
"We would like to thank members of the public who stopped to assist at the scene and we are continuing our enquiries to determine the full circumstances of this incident.
"This is a busy road into Wolverhampton city centre and we are asking anyone who was in the area at the time, who we have not yet spoken with, to get in contact with us."
