Man charged after police officer injured in Birmingham

Alleged offences involve multiple assaults and theft

A 30-year-old man has been charged in Birmingham after two police officers were attacked while attempting to detain him.

Mahroy Stephenson faces multiple charges, including wounding one officer with intent and assaulting another.

The incident, on Soho Road, on 3rd July, left one officer with a head injury after being struck with a baton.

The 30-year-old is further charged with assaulting an officer during his arrest on Milner Road, Selly Oak, on 30th July.

In addition to these charges, he is also accused of wounding a man and a woman with intent and theft of jewellery worth £9,000 on 20th June.

He was charged yesterday afternoon and is due to appear before magistrates in Birmingham today.
