Man charged after Wolverhampton hit-and-run leaves woman in hospital

Pedestrian in her 50s injured after car hits another vehicle and mounts pavement on Goldthorn Hill

A man has been charged following a hit-and-run collision in Wolverhampton which left a woman needing hospital treatment.

Police arrested a 28-year-old man on Monday (22 December) on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop.

The arrest relates to an incident at around 8.40pm last Saturday, when a Seat Ibiza reportedly struck another car on Goldthorn Hill, at the junction with Fowler Street, before mounting the pavement and hitting a woman.

The pedestrian, in her 50s, was taken to hospital, where she remains in a stable condition.

Ryan Stanley has since been charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving, driving without a licence, driving without insurance and failing to stop.

He was remanded in custody to appear before Wolverhampton Magistrates’ Court today.
