Man arrested on suspicion of murder at Tamworth Railway Station

It's after a man was found unresponsive on Sunday morning

A 27-year-old man from Birmingham has been arrested on suspicion of murder as part of a British Transport Police (BTP) investigation into the death of a man at Tamworth railway station on Sunday 8 March.

He was detained in the Sutton Coldfield area this morning (9 March) and remains in custody.

The 28-year-old woman arrested shortly after the incident has been released from custody with no further action to be taken against her.

Officers were called to Tamworth railway station at around 2.20am on 8 March to reports of an unresponsive man in the station’s car park.

Paramedics also attended and treated him for serious injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle. Despite their life-saving efforts, the man sadly died from his injuries at the scene.

He has now been formally identified as 28-year-old Dylan Fitzpatrick from Birmingham.

BTP Detective Inspector Marvin Bruno said: “This arrest follows extensive overnight enquiries and marks a significant step in our investigation into the death of Dylan Fitzpatrick. We are not looking for anyone else in connection at this time.

“Dylan’s family are being supported by specially trained officers, and we ask that their privacy is respected as they process the loss of their loved one.

“Anyone with information relating to this incident who hasn’t already spoken to us is urged to come forward, either by texting 61016 or calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 60 of 8 March.”
