UPDATED: Woman dies following Sandwell collision

It happened near the junction of Wolverhampton Road and Albert Road just after 6.30am.

A woman who was seriously injured following a collision in Sandwell this morning has tragically died.

She was taken to hospital after being hit by a vehicle near the junction of Wolverhampton Road and Albert Road at just after 6.30am.

The woman, aged in her 60s, has now sadly died and our thoughts and support are with her loved ones at this terrible time.

A 31-year-old man who was previously detained on suspicion of drug driving has now been further arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

He remains in police custody for questioning.
