A 13-year-old has been charged after police recovered a machete in Birmingham.

The blade was found in Kings Norton when officers were alerted to suspicious activity, whilst out on patrol.

The 13-year-old boy was charged with possession of a bladed article.

He appeared before magistrates yesterday (18th August) and will be in court again later this month.

West Midlands Police said they are working to reduce knife crime in under 25-year-olds, through a range of tactics from plain-clothed operations to high visibility patrols.
