Comedian and presenter, Dan Hudson, is running the Solihull Half Marathon while dressed as a microphone – hoping to achieve a new Guiness World Record.

He is aiming for the Fastest Half Marathon dressed as a microphone (male) - on top of his existing record for the Fastest Marathon dressed as a microphone, which he achieved at the London Marathon in April.

Dan explained that he started wearing the microphone costume while running to reflect his profession, and to make people smile: “It's funny to me, which is all that really matters, I suppose. It's funny to me to run past someone and see them laugh or smile. You know, people are going through a lot all over the world.”

As part of the run, Dan is fundraising for Marie Curie, in memory of his mum Gill, who died in April 2022 and was cared for at the hospice in Solihull.

The comedian said: “The work they did, 24-hour care for people at the end of their life. It's a job that I wouldn't want to do. I don't think I'd be able to do it. I just thought they were brilliant.

“When my mum died, I thought, I should do a marathon and raise money for Marie Curie. And I did. And then after that, I thought I should just do marathons like more often.”

He has raised over £10,000 over for years for the charity.

The Solihull Half Marathon is part of Dan’s training for the Berlin Marathon in September. People can donate on his Just Giving Page.
