West Midlands Police say they're working 24/7 to keep people safe - with a huge number of people brought into custody over the past two days.

They say they've made over 400 arrests across the force area, including in Coventry.

Sharing an update on Saturday (15 June), they said: "Over the past two days, in our Perry Barr, Oldbury, Bournville, Stechford, Coventry, and Bloxwich cells, we have detained over 400 people for a variety of offences including assault, criminal damage, and burglary.

"31 people are being detained over various assault offences, including a 34-year-old female arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer at a Birmingham hospital yesterday night.

"Separately, we were called to the Shirley area, in the early hours of the morning, where a woman aged 30 was detained on suspicion of assault on a taxi driver.

"While on patrol officers stopped a vehicle with cloned plates. After a brief foot chase, officers arrested a 32-year-old and a 26-year-old male on suspicion of burglary after discovering cash, class B drugs, gloves, and tools in the vehicle.

"Yesterday evening, officers arrested two men aged 24 and 27 on suspicion with intent to supply Class A drugs. Later on, officers arrested another two men, aged 21 and 28, for the same offence on Broad Street, Birmingham."
