A fourth person has been charged in connection to the murder of a man who was taken from his home in Handsworth in 2019.

Tomasz Samel was taken in a white van from his home on Raleigh Close arriving in Bickerstaffe in Lancashire, where he tried to get help.

He was taken to hospital having suffered 75% burns and later died at a specialist burns unit in Liverpool.

In 2025, West Midlands Police charged three people in connection with the investigation.

Neil Jones is the latest to have been charged and appeared in Birmingham Magistrates Court today (08th Jan).

The 48-year-old, of no fixed address, has been remanded into custody to appear before Birmingham Crown Court on Monday.

Police are urging anyone with information about Tomasz’ death who has not already spoken to officers to get in touch.
