FareShare Midlands says demand "is not slowing down" this summer, as more foodbanks are turning to them for help.

The charity takes surplus food from supermarkets and supplies foodbanks across Birmingham, as donations have been drying up.

Simone Connolly is the CEO. She said: "During the school holidays we always see an increase in demand, as schools close down.

"It's as things like breakfast clubs and after school groups shut down, so families require more support.

"Therefore, the knock on effect is that we at FareShare see more organisations coming to us for help to respond to that demand.

"It's an incredibly busy period for us."
