Family pay tribute to man who died in Handsworth
He's now been named as Daniel (Danny) Lewis, aged 40, was taken to hospital where he tragically died last Wednesday.
The grieving family of a man who died after being found with serious injuries in Handsworth have today paid tribute to him.
Police were called to reports of a man in cardiac arrest on a supermarket car park off Soho Road just after 12.45pm last Monday (2 Feb).
Daniel (Danny) Lewis, aged 40, was taken to hospital where he tragically died last Wednesday.
Specialist officers are supporting his family, and our thoughts remain with his loved ones at this devastating time.
In a statement issued today, his sister Natasha said:
“Danny was well liked by anyone that met him. He was known for being mischievous with a loveable cheekiness.
“He had the biggest heart and he was the best big brother I could have asked for.
“He was my protector, my forever friend.
“He was an amazing son and uncle and adored his family, he would do anything for us.
“We are all struggling to come to terms with what has happened, it's so cruel. I feel like he has been robbed from us”.
The investigation into disorder in the Soho Road / Holyhead Road area prior to Danny being found, is continuing.
As part of police enquiries, a 34-year-old man was arrested last Tuesday on suspicion of attempted murder and has been bailed pending further enquires.
A second 34-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of assault and has been released under investigation.
Officers are reviewing CCTV footage and speaking to witnesses as part of our investigation.
