Extra police powers granted following murder in Wolverhampton
Powers will be in place in the area from 7pm until 8am tomorrow morning
West Midlands Police will be using Section 60 powers in parts of the Whitmore Reans area of Wolverhampton this evening and overnight following a firearms discharge this morning.
Police were called to Leicester Street just after 3am this morning to reports of shots being fired.
A man in his 20s was pronounced dead at the scene. A second man was taken to hospital and remains in a life-threatening condition.
The powers will be in place in the area on the map, from 7pm today (Friday) until 8am tomorrow morning (Saturday).
Section 60 powers allow police to stop and search people without the need to have reasonable grounds.
There will be an increased presence in the area to offer reassurance to the local community.
