A man from Oldbury has been jailed for conning thousands of pounds out of homeowners in Dudley.

Dudley Council's Trading Standards team investigated Kevin Bambrick, of Borough Crescent in Oldbury, when they were told he was being paid for work he never intended to do.

The 36-year-old conned 8 households in total, Wolverhampton Crown Court heard.

Many of the victims were elderly or vulnerable too. One victim told the court how they were left with a home in a poor state for months.

Bambrick pleaded guilty to a single offence of participating in a fraudulent business carried on by a sole trader. He was sentenced to 34 months imprisonment.

The judge described the 36-year-old's actions as 'wholly dishonest' from the start.

Councillor James Clinton, cabinet member responsible for trading standards, said:

“We have shown time and time again that we will not hesitate to take action against traders who fail to meet their legal requirements.

“This is a shocking case of shoddy workmanship and the man responsible now faces the consequences of his actions.

“I would like to thank our officers for their hard work on this case and I commend the bravery of the people affected for coming forward," he said.
