Jason Walker, from Ambleside, Birmingham, has been sentenced to two years and eight months in prison for causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

The incident occurred on 16th December 2024, when Walker struck two pedestrians, a man and a woman both in their 60s, near the junction of Frankley Beeches Road and Sir Herbert Austin Way in Northfield. Both pedestrians suffered serious injuries as a result.

Investigation and conviction

The Serious Collision Investigation Unit (SCIU) determined that Walker was driving a black Mercedes between 49 and 56mph—nearly double the 30mph speed limit—just moments before colliding with the pedestrians.

Walker pleaded guilty at Birmingham Crown Court on 24th March 2026, leading to his imprisonment.

Sergeant Paul Hughes from the SCIU emphasized the gravity of the offense: "Walker showed complete disregard for the safety of others. His actions demonstrated a shocking lack of care and responsibility."

He added, "This case is a stark reminder of the devastating consequences of dangerous driving. One reckless decision behind the wheel can destroy lives forever."
