A Dad from Lichfield is raising money for Birmingham Children's Hospital after they treated his new born daughter.

Tom Penzer Adams is taking on 6 ultra marathons in 6 days in a few months.

Delilah had life-saving surgery at 5 days old on the Neonatal Surgical Ward for intestinal malrotation with volvulus.

The now 5 month old underwent Ladd's procedure and Tom is now raising money for the specific ward she was treated on.

When the 37-year-old takes on the challenge he is going to be spelling out his daughters name - going from Dover to Eastling, then Longfield to Islington, followed by Luton to Abthorpe, and ending at the Hospital (BCH).

Ladd’s procedure includes a reduction of volvulus, lysis of Ladd bands, placing the small bowel in the right abdomen and the colon in the left abdomen, and an appendectomy.

It means Delilah's small intestine is now in the right and her large intestine on the left.

Tom said: "We are trying to raise awareness for intestinal malrotation, which I, before having a child had never heard of.

"One in 3,000 people are born with it. Most people who are born with it live with it, but unfortunately Delilah's bowel was twisted twice so she would have either had a colostomy bag for the rest of her life, or passed away.

"She is such a lovely, happy little baby to spend time with. You wouldn't know she'd been through so much trauma.

"Myself and my wife Grace will live with the horrible memories, but fortunately Delilah will never remember".

The challenge is planned to take place from Monday 30 June to Saturday 5 July 2025.

Tom, and his wife Grace, have thanked people for their support so far, and are still raising funds for the Neonatal Surgical Ward at Birmingham Children's Hospital.
